DLR Photo Report – 5/17/09 :: Featuring Video of Mickey’s Fun Wheel

It’s now time for my latest photo report from the Disneyland Resort:

dsc05325

Some of the pieces have started being put back up on the Astro Orbitor

dsc05326

dsc05327

This shade of purple, as well as a dark gold and dark blue will be the new color scheme for the Astro Orbitor

dsc05328

dsc05350

dsc05329

A look at the new lighting at the Pixie Hollow pond

dsc05330

Even though the lighting is a little obvious, it does look good

dsc05331

dsc05346

dsc05347

dsc05334

A look at the damaged section of Monorail track by Tomorrowland Terrace

dsc05335

dsc05336

dsc05338

The lovely Monorail Blue passing through Fantasyland

dsc05339

Construction walls up near Small World Mall

dsc05340

dsc05348

Lighting towers for Grad Nites

dsc05349

dsc05352

Quite a crowd coming into Disneyland

dsc05353

A decent line to get into DCA

dsc05355

D23 ad at the ticket booths

dsc05356

Along with an ad for Disney-Pixar’s “Up”

dsc05357

A very out of date painting at DCA’s Guest Relations. It still has Superstar Limo on it!

dsc05358

The California Food and Wine Festival is still going very strong

dsc05360

An Elementary School band heading into the old Hollywood and Dine building after a performance at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot Stage

dsc05361

The Wall-E set is still up next to the entrance to the Hyperion Theater

dsc05369

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible doing meet ‘n greets

dsc05371

dsc05372

This sea serpent hidden behind the Hollywood Pictures Backlot Stage is apparently from the extinct Epcot attraction, World of Motion!

dsc05375

dsc05376

dsc05377

dsc05381

These Roman pillars are also from the World of Motion

dsc05380

Drawn to the Magic was supposed to be performed in front of Disney Animation…

dsc05373

… But because of sound issues, the 11:00am showing never happened

dsc05374

The characters still did meet ‘n greets inside the Animation building however. Although Princess Aurora and Peter Pan were there instead of Cinderella and Woody

dsc05382

New palm trees have been put up at the Christmas Tree point in Paradise Pier

dsc05383

dsc05384

The canopy has been put back up on King Triton’s Carousel

dsc05385

Unfortunately it’s pretty much the same as before

dsc05400

Now for my first ride on Mickey’s Fun Wheel!

dsc05386

dsc05387

dsc05388

A long line for the Swinging Gondolas

dsc05389

dsc05390

dsc05391

Unfortunately, the queue is pretty much the same as before

dsc05406

dsc05407

dsc05408

And now here is a video of Mickey’s Fun Wheel

dsc05393

I ate at Pizza Oom Mow Mow for the first time. Here’s the Food and Wine speciality item for that restaurant

dsc05395

Walls around the Orange Stinger to block out views of very close construction underneath the attraction in preparation for Silly Symphony Swings

dsc05396

dsc05397

dsc05409

The San Francisco Street buildings have came down from construction walls

dsc05410

They’ve added railings, gardens, and benches outside the buildings to make the buildings look a bit more true to life

dsc05411

dsc05412

The illusion definitely works now

dsc05413

The old restrooms have closed once and for all

dsc05414

dsc05415

All the signs have already been removed

dsc05416

The new San Francisco Street restrooms have now opened

dsc05417

dsc05418

This little building was added on the end of the buildings for ATM machines and overall a nice little area

dsc05419

dsc05420

dsc05422

Star Tours had a quick 2 day refurbishment last week, but is obviously now re-opened

dsc05423

The work on Cosmic Waves should be wrapping up soon

dsc05424

dsc05425

A random tarp alongside the PeopleMover track

dsc05428

The Pixie Hollow pond looks nice from the other side as well

dsc05429

Not that long of a line for Pixie Hollow

dsc05431

What is Rosetta supposed to be under?

dsc05432

And where is the water?

dsc05433

dsc05449

I spy a celebration!

dsc05451

I spy a Monorail!

dsc05453

And why is there tape on the side of the Monorail!?

dsc05464

dsc05465

Over at the Disneyland Hotel… Not quite sure what’s going on over here

dsc05470

I attended a Disneyland Pin Trading Night for the first time, which was held at the Disneyland Hotel’s Magic Kingdom Ballroom instead of the Paradise Pier Hotel’s Pacific Ballroom

dsc05471

Quite a lot of people pin trading

dsc05472

dsc05473

dsc05474

LittleMissMatched in Downtown Disney should be opening sometime soon

dsc05479

Now for a few pictures from the Pixar Play Parade

dsc05485

dsc05494

dsc05502

Still no Ratatouille float :(

dsc05505

dsc05522

dsc05527

dsc05545

All traces of Illuminations are now gone

dsc05546

The new Matterhorn/Splash/Big Thunder jumbo pin and Monorail collector set

dsc05547

A bunch of starter sets

dsc05548

A new Games of the Boardwalk starter set. Very nice!

Well, that’ll do it for this photo report. As always, stay tuned to our Image Galleries for bigger versions of these and many other photos.
