DLR Photo Report – 3/8/09

Yesterday was a great day to be at the Disneyland Resort, despite it being a little crowded. Here is my latest photo report:

dsc04210

Celebration Point on Main Street USA.

dsc04211

Some awesome flowers at the base.

dsc04212

You’re Invited to Celebrate Today!

dsc04213

dsc04214

The letter popping out of the envelope.

dsc04215

The facade of the China Closet is being worked on.

dsc04216

What Will You Celebrate at the Plaza Inn?

dsc04218

Does this cash register counter in the Little Green Men Store Command look familiar? It should, as it’s the doors of the PeopleMover.

dsc04226

I rode the Astro Orbitor for the first time since I moved out to California. Here’s a little tour of the attraction which may soon be changed or removed completely.

dsc04244

You get some great views from the Astro Orbitor…

dsc04249

… The views would be even better if they were up on top of the PeopleMover station!

dsc04258

dsc04237

And with that, we leave the Astro Orbitor.

dsc04262

For some reason, the Tomorrowland Terrace stage isn’t lowering at the moment.

dsc04282

dsc04327

dsc04266

Monorail Red in the Tomorrowland Monorail Station.

dsc04269

Monorail Red next to The Matterhorn.

dsc04270

And speaking of the Matterhorn, it recently re-opened from a short refurbishment.

dsc04272

However, only Track B is operating at the moment, which created a long line.

dsc04273

Now for a few Small World exterior shots.

dsc04275

The facade is already starting to show a little wear and tear.

dsc04277

The nighttime lighting.

dsc04278

dsc04279

Back to the Matterhorn, here you can see the closed side.

dsc04285

There’s no such thing as a bad Castle/Matterhorn shot.

dsc04286

Soon to be one of the entrances to the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

dsc04290

A few shots from the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough.

dsc04302

dsc04306

I never knew Aurora’s dress was white.

dsc04307

A look at construction for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

dsc04308

This is where one of the signs will hang.

dsc04309

The boutique opens April 4th, 2009.

dsc04310

dsc04311

Wishing Star Magic Crystals is now permanently closed.

dsc04312

And now for a look at Celebration Round-up and Barbecue at Big Thunder Ranch construction.

dsc04313

dsc04314

dsc04315

dsc04316

The petting zoo has re-opened.

dsc04317

dsc04318

A very narrow pathway.

dsc04321

Soon to be the new home for The Disney Gallery.

dsc04323

Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years closes March 15th and re-opens later this year as The Disneyland Story, Featuring Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.

dsc04324

For a complete photo tour of the Opera House lobby as it is now, click here to go back to some of my old photos in the Image Gallery.

dsc04325

Also keep an eye on the WDWNTube Disney Parks Video Site in the coming week for a complete video tour of the attraction, including the film itself!

dsc04331

This entrance to World of Disney of was recently repainted.

dsc04332

Club Libby Lu is now closed.

dsc04333

All exterior references to Department 56 have been removed.

dsc04334

Interior logos do remain however.

dsc04335

dsc04336

Illuminations closes at the end of April.

dsc04337

Everything in the store is 25-50% off.

dsc04338

Also closed is Starabillas.

dsc04339

You can easily tell where the sign was once.

dsc04341

And now here’s something we don’t usually do… An update of stuff going on at the hotels.

dsc04342

“Celebrate Today!” has been added to the Sorcerer’s Hat at the Disneyland Hotel.

dsc04343

dsc04347

Croc’s Bits and Bites is currently closed for refurbishment.

dsc04349

dsc04345

They’re testing new rooms and color designs at the Dreams tower.

dsc04346

dsc04350

dsc04363

You can also “Celebrate Today!” at the Paradise Pier Hotel.

dsc04364

dsc04362

Now for a look at the Grand Californian Disney Vacation Club villas.

dsc04373

By far the best decoration I’ve seen come out of this year’s campaign.

dsc04374

Now for a look at mega-construction in DCA.

dsc04375

San Francisco street restrooms.

dsc04376

Pacific Wharf bridge.

dsc04377

No obvious changes to Mickey’s Fun Wheel.

dsc04378

They’ve rounded off the edges of the ex-Mickey head either to temporarily make it look better, or to prepare it for the new sunburst.

dsc04380

dsc04381

dsc04379

Paradise Pier was extremely busy yesterday. Definitely the busiest I’ve ever seen it!

dsc04382

Walls up by the Orange Stinger to block really close construction in the lagoon.

dsc04384

The wait for the Orange Stinger was enormous (by its standards)! Must of been 20-30 minutes.

dsc04385

Lots of stuff in the lagoon.

dsc04386

dsc04387

dsc04401

dsc04402

dsc04388

The back of the Fun Wheel.

dsc04389

All that remains to be painted is the back white supports (they’ll be painted black).

dsc04390

dsc04396

dsc04403

dsc04391

The Games of the Boardwalk facades have been revealed. They look absolutely beautiful!

dsc04392

dsc04393

dsc04394

dsc04395

“A Paradise of Fun, Under the Sun!”

dsc04397

dsc04398

dsc04404

dsc04405

dsc04399

A cool shot of California Screamin’.

dsc04406

The line for Toy Story Midway Mania was actually quite manageable, only about 30-40 minutes.

dsc04407

A close up look at the former Mickey head.

dsc04408

The extended queue for Toy Story Midway Mania not being used. They have been randomly walled of behind construction walls recently. No clue why.

dsc04409

As King Triton’s Carousel of the Sea is closing soon to get a make-0ver, here’s a quick tour of the attraction as it is today.

dsc04410

dsc04411

The actual Carousel itself is quite detailed.

dsc04412

Logos from various famous (or not-so-famous) California piers and amusement parks line the edge of the Carousel.

dsc04413

dsc04415

dsc04416

dsc04417

dsc04418

The covering is one of the things that doesn’t look too good about the Carousel.

dsc04420

dsc04421

The oddly placed organ.

dsc04422

The restroom area is ugly however.

dsc04423

dsc04426

2 new signs and a new lenticular panel join the Crush lenticular panel along the Paradise Pier bridge.

dsc04427

The Pocahontas scene is the new lenticular panel.

dsc04428

dsc04429

dsc04430

Work on the new home for Concina Cucamonga.

dsc04431

The Pacific Wharf bridge is still closed.

dsc04432

dsc04433

They set up a path to travel down, and a path to travel up the bridge.

dsc04434

“You Are Here” maps now adorn the Pacific Wharf construction walls.

dsc04435

Aw, whatever happened to Golden State and More!?

dsc04436

The Bolt Pre-Parade now runs in front of the Pixar Play Parade.

dsc04441

dsc04444

Now here are some shots from the Pixar Play Parade.

dsc04445

dsc04446

dsc04451

“Play, play, it’s the Play Parade!”

dsc04453

dsc04457

“Don’t stop me now, I’m having such a good time, I’m having a ball.”

dsc04462

dsc04468

dsc04477

“So be my guest, you got nothing to loose. Won’t you let me take you on a sea cruise.”

dsc04482

dsc04483

dsc04484

dsc04491

“Bugs just wanna have fun!”

dsc04497

dsc04498

dsc04500

dsc04536

dsc04539

Soarin’ Over California had a long wait too, about 55 minutes.

dsc04541

I’ve never heard of Lilo parking before.

dsc04542

New signs themed to the “What Will You Celebrate?” promotion at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure.

That’ll do it for this gigantic photo report. As always, stay tuned to the Image Galleries for bigger versions of these and many other photos from my adventures at the Disneyland Resort.
